Here are the creations I have just started, very exciting indeed. I can seem to get to the studio enough to work on these! There are wizard lanterns for the table t5op, lanterns to hang outdoors and a work in progress, perpetual urns (yeah for creamated remains, there is a story here!). so check back snd see the progress.

Road Trip

For anyone who loves pottery and has not made the short and beautiful trek to Seagrove, NC, go now.

Put down your watering hose, laptop or what ever distraction keeps you at home and get into your mode of transportation and go.
I just returned, it was only for a day because I want to make this a regular thing. There are over 100 potters in this quaint rural setting and to try and whip through it in one or two days would be a shame, but if you want a nice day or so trip this is a super choice.
The first stop as you hop on 220 was A.R. Britt Pottery, I purchased the coolest egg cooker, I should have bought several, so see I have to go back. I had a great time talking shop with these guys for an hour or more and really got to know the town.
Then off to several more potteries, I especially enjoyed Village Pottery. They carry a huge selecion of potters from areas all over and Melanie, the owner was most delightful.

Next was Kings Pottery, unfortunatley I arrived after hours, but I still got out and meandered around the gardens, which in itself was so cool. They have metal art pieces made from recycled farm and garden tools placed in the flower beds and along the splitrail fence that leads you up to a cozy porch. What really struck me were the hand made quilts that were laid out on the benches along the front porch. I can only quess why they were there, but what ever the reason, it made me feel comfortable and welcome.

So, now that I have returned home and I am motivated to get into the studio and get crackin'

A lot going on...

There has been so much going on, Art in the yard was a huge success, hope to participate again next year.

I opened the Market on Main (themarketonmain.net) June one and is keeping me hopping. Pottery orders are still coming in from everywhere (good problem) and my metal work it keeping me busy as well. Yes, and my real job is certainly keeping me entertained. Here some pics of things I am working on....

#4 Totem Series

This is #4 of my totem series.
The wonderful advantage to these totems is that the look can be changed on a whim. If you get bored with one look, disassemble and reassemble for a new look.
Standing 36 inches tall, this totem will look awesome in any garden.

Workshop with Amy Sanders

We are excited to announce a pottery workshop with Amy Sanders of There, There Pottery on June 27th. This workshop will offer demonstrations of handbuilding, throwing and the use of textures and patterns, Amy will also discuss her insight on marketing.

Already, !!!! February 1st! Wow time is flying and there is still so much to do. time to get the garden turned, seeds started in the greenhouse and pieces done for the spring show, "whew", there aren't enough hours in the day. But, I'll get there. Stay tuned, the kiln is loaded and I should have new pieces up for viewing soon. I am excited about the newly designed African Violet pots and Pita planters. So much fun!

This is my latest platter titled "Leaves on Parade" It measures 17" across, it carved free hand (15 hours worth) then painted with colored slips while still in its green phase. As time consuming as they are I absolutley love making them!!!!!

Workshop follow up

The workshop on Saturday was a huge success, everyone had a chance to test drive throwing on the wheel and also how to build a coiled platter. Everyone was able to complete two or more pieces and are waiting with anticipation to see how their pieces will look after they are fired!!!
Cant wait for our Raku workshop, stay tuned for the date to be announced.....

It is 5 am, New Years Day and I am starting off with a bang!
